For over six decades since Orion’s establishment amid the chaos of postwar Okinawa on May 18, 1957, we have achieved development supported by the Okinawan people and numerous other Okinawa-loving people.
Our aspirations are expressed in the Orion Group’s core values, which include “co-existence and co-prosperity” and “Be grateful and repay the kindness you have received.” In order to contribute to Okinawa’s sustainable development while serving the interests of all stakeholders who love Okinawa around the world, all of us at the Orion Group continue to make concerted efforts to accomplish the Group’s mission, “Proudly from Okinawa, Orion makes people, makes occasions, helps the world smile.”
While global climate change and geopolitical instability have emerged as major issues, Okinawa is also facing some unique challenges. They include issues stemming from Okinawa’s unique culture and history, its circumstances as a remote archipelago, environmental issues affecting its beautiful natural endowment, and longstanding social issues concerning employment and child poverty.
For the Orion Group, the most powerful factor determining the differentiation of its products and services is Okinawa’s attractiveness. In pursuit of enhanced sustainability, it is indispensable for us to achieve development hand in hand with Okinawa.
The company’s initiatives and commitment to resolving social issues are the focus of rising expectations on the part of local communities. It is in this context that we established the Orion Sustainability Committee in September 2023, identifying five themes and 15 items of materiality related to key social issues that the Orion Group will address through its business activities.
As an enterprise fulfilling a key role in the Okinawan economy, while continuing to engage in dialogue with various stakeholders and leveraging our products and services, as well as our human resources and their synergistic power, to the maximum extent, we aim to achieve sustainable development hand in hand with Okinawa.
