Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
We believe the attractiveness of the Orion Group’s products and services is in large measure an expression of the “attractiveness of Okinawa” and we seek to make the most of that linkage.
And at the heart of Okinawa’s attractiveness is its rich natural environment as an archipelago set in a beautiful ocean.
We believe that initiatives to conserve Okinawa’s beautiful natural endowment, which is not only cherished by Okinawans but also attracts numerous tourists, will lead to strengthened sustainability of the Okinawa-based Orion Group.
We strive to offer products and services that contribute to a low-carbon or decarbonized society, whether in the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage business or the tourism and hotel business. We also work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, particularly at our manufacturing sites, thereby contributing to realization of a decarbonized society.
In 2017, to satisfy a portion of its fuel needs, Nago Brewery, the sole plant of Orion Brewery, switched to liquefied natural gas (LNG).
In 2021, we adopted Okinawa Electric Power Company’s “Uchina – CO2 Free Menu” for use of electricity derived from renewables and reduced CO2 emissions by approximately 30% (compared to 2021, according to the Company’s survey).
Orion Breweries entered into an agreement with Okinawa Electric Power Company to contribute to realization of a recycling-oriented, low-carbon society (February 22, 2022)
